LAKE LUMINOUS

A Poem by Isabel Jackson

*Lake Luminous

Sparkles on the lake below
dance, flash, twinkle
(as if myriad bells are tinkling)

sparks dart across water
air currents make inaudible music
subtle rhythm, random, free

beginning   ending   beginning
fascinates, mystifies
myriad lumens

a pathway of glimmers
scattered sprinklings
tiny flames of brilliance

cascading toward shore
a prick of light but for an instant
gold detonating

momentary mobile brilliance
stars of sun's morning
each jewel blinks

clustered gems
gradually dispel
only to return yet again
